My Grandmother always said “There are two certainties in life; death and taxes”. Sadly she was absolutely correct and exactly one month ago today, my beloved Mum passed away.

I was absolutely grief-stricken. No one prepares you for the certainty and I was complete unprepared for my loss.

A month in and I am coping. There are good days, bad days and days that are simply a fact of life, they happen with little or no consequence.  To unravel someone’s life is almost unbearable and yet, people die every day and as a consequence of that, people have to gain some strength and unravel the life of their loved one. I can almost hear Mum saying, I know you can do it. By some strange coincidence, the first bag that I removed from Mum’s home containing paperwork had the wonderful phrase on it of “Keep Calm and Carry On”.

Mum was a very keen seamstress. She loved sewing, patchwork, quilting and knitting and so much more. She leaves behind so many projects, material and various paraphernalia all of which supported her interests.  As I contemplated what to do with it all. I had an idea and it is that idea that I will share with you here.
